Losiny Ostrov National Park
Losiny Ostrov National Park — Wildlife 20 minutes from Vega Hotel
Just a 20—minute drive from the Vega Hotel, a real natural fairy tale begins - the Losiny Ostrov National Park, one of the largest specially protected natural areas in the megalopolis. Established in 1983, it covers the forests of Moscow and the Moscow region and preserves a unique biodiversity: more than 800 species of plants, 200 species of birds and 40 species of mammals, including moose, wild boar, spotted deer, beavers and even rare predators. This is a place where the hustle and bustle of the city is replaced by the silence of ancient pines and the rustle of foliage.
Three fascinating ecological centers are open to the guests of the park. At the Moose Biostation, you can observe the inhabitants of spacious enclosures — moose, marals, fallow deer and wild boars — from convenient observation towers, as well as learn about scientific research, including a unique program for "health certification" of wild animals. In the Arboretum you will find a barefoot trail, an all-season shrub maze, a museum of the history of forest protection and picturesque corners of a bicentennial pine forest. And in the cozy wooden manor house "Tea Party in Mytishchi" — on the shore of the historical spring of the first Moscow aqueduct — interactive tours about Russian life are conducted and they are treated to fragrant samovar tea.
Hiking trails are available for active travelers — the popular "Deer Trail" and "Barefoot Trail", as well as water kayaking and electric rafting trips. Regardless of the time of year, Losiny Ostrov gives guests the opportunity to touch the wild nature without leaving the capital region.
